Our Story
Our story starts in 1989 when a small, two-owner, one-employee company called MedSource sprang up in Springfield, Missouri. In 1995, the company split down the middle, selling off one half and transforming the other into Medical Consulting Group (MCG), the team now known nationwide for its leading medical business solutions.
In the beginning, sole owner William B. Rabourn, Jr., focused MCG's services on medical business strategy, marketing, mergers, and business operations. By 1998, MCG had welcomed five new employees, including Stephen Sheppard, CPA, COE, and Robert McCarville, MPA. Both would become co-owners, and together our trio of leaders launched several new MCG companies between 1999 and 2018, each designed to help our clients improve and simplify business operations.
- MCG Management Services, LLC - Accounting, HR, Credentialing, Management Reporting, Clinical, and Operations
- MCG Revenue Management, LLC - Coding, Billing, Collections, and Accounts Receivable Management
- PatientBuilder, LLC - Device Education, e-Learning, Marketing, and Product Integration
MCG's list of services is the product of 30 years in the ophthalmic industry, as well as almost every other medical specialty. We have welcomed several new consultants and many more highly trained members of staff. In April of 2018, we expanded our campus to include a building right across the parking lot.
As MCG continues to grow, easy team collaboration will always be a priority. After all, it is part of what makes us so good at what we do.

Our Team
Meet MCG’s Dream Team. Together, we are a rarity and one of the only groups—if not the only group—of medical business experts in the U.S. to have such a comprehensive team operating under one roof. Our collaboration allows us—and you—to benefit from a seasoned, collective knowledge base.

Community Outreach
MCG gives back by maintaining a culture of philanthropy and outreach within our work environment through the MCG Community Outreach program.
Led by a voluntary team of employees, MCG Outreach coordinates internal events and drives to serve local charities by raising money throughout the year. In the past, we have raised money and collected goods for:
- Habitat for Humanity
- Rare Breed
- Isabel’s House
- Harmony House
- Camp Barnabas
- Rescue One
Often the charities we select are especially near and dear to the hearts of our MCG family, as many of our volunteers have been heavily involved in these organizations even outside of the office. We are committed to fostering this tradition of giving and will do so for many years to come.
