Our Story
The history behind our expertise
Medical Consulting Group
Though our team is now made up of more than 50 employees, we started out small. In 1989, a two-owner, one-employee company called MedSource sprang up in Springfield, Missouri, and was renamed Medical Consulting Group (MCG) in 1995.
In its early days, our company was owned and led by consultant William B. Rabourn, Jr., who focused on ophthalmic business strategy, ophthalmic marketing, mergers, and business operations. Soon, our reputation had grown along with our team. With more employees and several new business and nursing consultants—including managing principal Stephen Sheppard, CPA, COE; managing principal Robert McCarville, MPA; and principal Erin Malloy—Medical Consulting Group combined its diverse expertise to expand its services to medical practices, ambulatory surgery centers, and medical corporations.
While our core client type is still ophthalmology and eye care providers, our consultants have decades of experience serving clients from every medical specialty.
As MCG continues to grow, in-person team collaboration will always be a priority. Even when we outgrew our building in 2018, we kept our group close by expanding to the building just steps away in the same parking lot. Collaborating with a variety of experts in strategic medical consulting is one of our greatest strengths. It is part of what makes us so good at what we do, and we are dedicated to fostering this team-oriented culture for the benefit of our employees as well as the clients we serve.
