William Rabourn

WILLIAM B. RABOURN, JR.

MANAGING PRINCIPAL

Founder of Medical Consulting Group and Managing Principal, Bill has a long history of sales and marketing success in the medical industry with vast experience in advertising and business strategy. Bill was the co-founder of Vein and Laser Centers Incorporated (cosmetic laser specialty centers) and Chief Marketing Officer and Vice President of a major financial institution. In addition, he was a business instructor at Missouri State University, where he graduated with a comprehensive double major in Management and Marketing with a minor in Advertising. Bill has served on the Board of Directors for Park Central Hospital, Missouri State University Alumni Association, American Cancer Society, and the Girls & Boys Club of Springfield. He is a member of ASCRS/ASOA and frequently speaks at national and regional meetings. Bill and his wife Cindy have two children, who all love traveling, snow skiing, and golf.

 

Joel Nunneley

JOEL A. NUNNELEY

MANAGING PRINCIPAL

Joel A. Nunneley, MCG Managing Principal, has a consulting background that includes experience in both general business and various medical specialties, with a focus on ophthalmology. He has numerous sales, marketing, and training accomplishments in the ophthalmic industry with Allergan, Inc. and Johnson & Johnson. He has expertise in organizational analysis and transformation with a focus on marketing and advertising. Joel is a member of ASCRS/ASOA and the author of several published articles in Ophthalmology Management and Review of Ophthalmology. He is a frequent lecturer at the ASCRS and AAO national meetings. Joel is a graduate of the University of Arkansas Business School with a BS/BA degree in Marketing. In addition to his professional career, Joel serves as Vice President of Big Brothers/Big Sisters. Joel and his wife Carol have three children and reside in Fayetteville, AR. They enjoy playing golf, fly fishing, and following their beloved Arkansas Razorbacks.

 

Stephen Sheppard

STEPHEN C. SHEPPARD, CPA, COE

MANAGING PRINCIPAL

Steve Sheppard founded MCG’s ASC division upon joining the company in 1998. Prior to that time, he spent nine years in public accounting, four years as the chief financial officer of an integrated real estate organization that included a registered broker/dealer for real estate syndications, and seven years as the vice president of administration for a nationally-recognize integrated eye care organization.

Steve has been involved with many successful eye ASCs and is a frequent speaker at national eye care meetings. He has provided consulting services to major ophthalmic corporations. Under his leadership, the ASC division has grown to include equity participations and a full range of business and management services.

Steve and his wife Peggy are happily empty-nested in Springfield, Missouri.

 

Rob McCarville

ROB McCARVILLE, MPA

PRINCIPAL

Rob McCarville has an extensive portfolio in the field of healthcare facility management, administration, and strategy. Before joining the MCG consulting team in 2002, Rob was responsible for overseeing 16 separate physician practices, building a strong reputation by developing innovative strategies to increase profitability.

At MCG, Rob is a pivotal figure in the planning, development, and ongoing management of ambulatory surgical centers. He has been successful in building collaboration among surgeons and hospitals in the promotion of joint venture ASCs. Rob has been involved with more than twenty centers, with strong growth in orthopedic, multi-specialty, and surgeon-hospital joint venture facilities, as well as the billing and collection service.

Today’s Surgicenter magazine recognized Rob in its 2005 “Who’s Who in the ASC Industry” issue.

Rob resides in Springfield, Missouri with his wife Allison, where they stay busy with the activities of their three children.

 

Pat Thomas

PAT THOMAS, RN, BS

CONSULTANT

Pat’s nursing background includes 25 years experience in the ASC environment with a focus on ophthalmology. As director for several major metropolitan ASCs, she has been involved from initial design through completion, including expansion into multi-specialty services. She brings expertise in day-to-day ASC management, OR efficiencies, and state licensure and Medicare preparedness.

Pat received a B.S. degree from Missouri State University and a nursing diploma from St. John’s School of Nursing in Springfield, MO. She holds CRNO, ACLS, and BLS certifications and is a member of the American Society of Ophthalmic Registered Nurses, the Association of Operating Room Nurses, and the American Society of Ophthalmic Administrators. She guides MCG clients through licensure, certification, and accreditation preparedness, which includes equipment procurement, policy and procedure development, staff recruitment and training, and ongoing clinical operations and management.

Pat resides in Springfield and enjoys spending time with her daughter, flower gardening, and traveling.

 

Elaine Peterson

ELAINE PETERSON, RN, CNOR

CONSULTANT

Elaine Peterson has 22 years of experience working in a surgical environment as a nurse and consultant, managing a wide range of operational functions for orthopedic, neurological, pain management, ENT, GYN, plastic, and general surgeons. Prior to joining MCG, she served as the director of surgical services for a large orthopedic ASC that also offers pain management services.

She received her nursing diploma at Burge School of Nursing and is a member of the Association of Operating Room Nurses. Elaine holds CNOR, ACLS, and BLS certifications.

Elaine assists MCG clients with licensure, staff training, implementation of policies and procedures, equipment procurement, customization of supply packs, scheduling, accreditation preparedness, and clinical management for operating centers.

Elaine and her husband live in Springfield, MO, where their three sons are active in sports and music.
